Five results from one finger prick

Most home meters only show total cholesterol. The AT 5 in 1 measures total cholesterol, HDL and triglycerides from the same drop, then works out your LDL and cholesterol ratio, so you see the full picture every time you test.

How the AT 5 in 1 works

Each pack of strips includes lancets and pipettes, so you have everything for every test.

  1. Collect a drop of blood

Prick your fingertip with the lancing device and fill the pipette with a 35 µL drop.

  2. Apply it to the strip

Touch the pipette tip onto the white pad and release the drop in one smooth action.

  3. Read your five results

In about 2 minutes the meter shows your results and saves them to its 500-result memory.

Cholesterol testing questions

Which cholesterol meter should I buy?

If you want HDL, LDL and triglycerides as well as your total, choose the AT 5 in 1. If total cholesterol is enough, the EasyLife meters cost less upfront and can check glucose, uric acid or haemoglobin too. Our quiz will point you to the right one.

What is the difference between measured and calculated results?

The AT 5 in 1 measures total cholesterol, HDL and triglycerides directly from your blood sample. It then works out LDL cholesterol and your TC/HDL ratio from those three readings.

How accurate are home cholesterol meters?

Finger-prick results can differ from a laboratory test by up to about 15%, mainly because labs test blood from a vein. For the most useful picture, test at the same time of day each time and look at the trend across several readings.

Do I need to fast before testing?

Follow the instructions that come with your meter. Many people test first thing in the morning before eating, because triglyceride readings rise after a meal and testing at the same time each time makes your results easier to compare.

Which test strips do I need?

The AT 5 in 1 uses AT cholesterol strips, which come with lancets and pipettes. The EasyLife GCU Plus, GCHb Plus and home kit all use EasyLife Plus cholesterol strips. The two types are not interchangeable, and every pack includes its own code chip.

How much blood does a test need?

The AT 5 in 1 needs a 35 µL drop, which is larger than a blood glucose test, so warm hands and a firm prick help. EasyLife cholesterol strips need a smaller drop.

Can the AT 5 in 1 run from the mains?

It runs on 4 AAA batteries, included, for around 1,000 tests. A mains plug and data cable is available separately.

How quickly will my meter arrive?

Weekday orders placed before 3pm are dispatched the same day in plain packaging, with free tracked UK delivery on orders over £50. See our delivery page for all options.

About your results. Home cholesterol testing gives you an indication of your levels and helps you track changes over time. It doesn't replace a check with your GP or pharmacist, so talk to them about your results, especially if a reading is higher than expected.
